A man was found dead in an east Tallahassee home by a drone after officers responded to a "shots fired" call Sunday, according to the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD).

Just before 4 p.m. Saturday, a person called 911 and told a dispatcher that he heard several shots fired inside a home in the 2400 block of Wintergreen Road.

"Verbal commands were given by patrol officers asking anyone inside the home to come outside, and there was no response," read an incident synopsis by TPD.

Soon after, police sent in a drone that spotted a man dead from "an apparent gunshot wound," said the synopsis.

Detectives have identified a potential suspect vehicle from evidence collected at the scene, according to the synopsis.

TPD spokesperson Alicia Turner said she could not provide a description of the vehicle because "it is an active and open investigation."

She did not know if the man who was killed was the owner or renter of the residence.

The possible homicide is the 12th fatal shooting this year in the capital city and county. So far, there have been at least 56 serious shootings in which 32 have been injured, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence.
