BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty has shut down Charlie Stayt in a tense row followed by silence on today's show. The pair were discussing GCSE Results Day.

Charlie said: "We'll be catching up with those students later to see how they got on. Very exciting day!" Naga hit back: "You say it's exciting, I found it nerve-racking. Awful."

The pair then introduced Chetan Pathak. And Naga, who was hosting from 6am, said: "Morning, Chetan. How was it for you?

"I still get, you know that flutter in your stomach? That awful feeling of anticipation, anxiety..." Chetan replied: "I still get recurring nightmares that I haven't handed in my A-Level coursework. This is years later."

Later, there was further silence when Chetan referenced a new rugby mascot for the World Cup. Chetan explained how the mascot for the next tournament was a bumblebee, named Rugbee.

He joked: "They had another preference, but in the end they went with plan 'bee'." Charlie asked: "What was the preference?"

Naga rolled her eyes and said: "Oh, didn't you get it?" Chetan said: "I spent all morning thinking that up, I'm out of bee puns. Charlie's not impressed."

Charlie replied: "I have got it! I've got it now. It's better when someone doesn't get it, isn't it?" Chetan responded: "No, it doesn't land. Naga getting it made me feel a bit better. If there'd been stone cold silence..."
