Four farms suspended between San Vito and Morsano al Tagliamento: the staff was used for the fielding of the rooted cuttings, the cultivation of grapes and the harvest of asparagusPORDENONE.Twenty-three workers completely "illegally" and four complaints. This is the balance of the operation to combat illegality in agricultural work carried out by the financiers of the Provincial Command of Pordenone and by the officials of the Territorial Labor Inspectorate of Pordenone-Udine who carried out, between San Vito al Tagliamento and Morsano al Tagliamento, a series of interventions "on the fields", tracing irregularities in only 4 farms. The checks were inspired by the indications received both from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies and from the General Command of the Financial Police, confirmed and supported, at the local level, by those given by the prefect of Pordenone who, on the subject, had called a specific discussion table entrusting the direction of the activities to the Gdf and the Labor Inspectorate. The intensification of agricultural work, scheduled according to the seasons, in fact requires in peak periods a need for manpower that is difficult to solve with local resources and addressed, in recent times, by entrusting the phases of sowing, pruning, planting and harvesting to the increasingly numerous companies that offer "services related to agriculture".These realities, managed by foreigners, are able to recruit - often among their compatriots, generally without specific professional skills - the workers necessary to meet the needs of local companies. To win their own competition, however, they are forced to increasingly reduce the hourly cost of labor, polluting the labor market in favor of a profit, for them, however marginally low, but to the complete disadvantage of the weakest and most needy players in the supply chain: the workers themselves. After a short study phase of the local reality, the Yellow Flames of Western Friuli identified - thanks to the use of a drone and knowledge of the territory - the plots of land on which a widespread presence of workers intent on typical agricultural work was evident. this season: the fielding of rooted cuttings, the cultivation of grapes and the harvest of asparagus. The goodness of the selection, confirmed by the subsequent processing of the data, was then translated into practice, with the carrying out, in two days, of 4 checks "on the fields", carried out, together with the Labor Inspectorate officials, the areas and ensuring the full identification of all workers present. The interventions made it possible to identify 4 farms, of which one with 100% undeclared workers (7 out of 7) and another 3 with an overall irregular / worker ratio of much higher than 50% (7 out of 13; 5 out of 8 and 4 out of 7).For all 4, once the threshold of 10% of illegal workers on total workers was exceeded, the activity was suspended in any case.In particular, among the irregular workers, 4 were found to be "asylum seekers" and 3, reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Pordenone, clandestine immigrants.Their employer, an Italian, was also reported to the Judicial Authority for the use of labor without a residence permit. The sanction for the employment of undeclared workers - recounting of social security and insurance contributions separately - is equal to 1,800 euros per resource, increased by 20% in the case of hiring illegal foreign workers or asylum seekers. The two interventions confirm that, even in the Destra Tagliamento, the guard on the legality of working in the fields cannot be lowered, given the evident, persistent belief that the use of illegal labor - to damage and to the total detriment, before, of people in need and, then, of the Treasury - generate a profit that makes the risk of being controlled acceptable. The technology, indispensable for selecting the objectives, proved, in this case, essential for identifying, with speed, the most crowded fields. In any case, the activity, in addition to confirming the close harmony between the two control bodies, will continue, on a regular basis, towards the areas affected by the different seasonal crops.Unlimited access to all site content1 € / month for 3 months, then 2.99 € per month for 3 monthsUnlock unlimited access to all content on the siteVia Ernesto Lugaro n.15 - 00126 Turin - PI 01578251009 - Company subject to the management and coordination of GEDI Gruppo Editoriale SpAThe rights of the images and texts are reserved.Their reproduction by any means and total or partial adaptation is expressly prohibited.
