A Raven Software developer confirms that Call of Duty: Warzone's season 3 update will nerf some sniper and marksman rifles in the game.

Sniper rifles in Call of Duty: Warzone have experienced various balancing changes over the game's life cycle. This is likely owing to the fact that sniper rifles are often the most powerful weapons in many shooters and need to be balanced in order to make other weapons viable. This is seemingly why sniper rifles are confirmed to be getting nerfed in season 3 of Call of Duty: Warzone.

The last time sniper rifles were nerfed in Call of Duty: Warzone Raven Software noted that this was a mistake. The change caused sniper rifle headshot damage to be nerfed significantly, as the update made it so that a single sniper rifle shot to the head would not kill an opposing player. Raven Software noted that this nerf was unintended and quickly launched an update to revert the change. Now it seems as though sniper rifles are set to be nerfed yet again.

This time around the changes to sniper rifles seem to be planned, as Raven Software's Senior Creative Director, Ted Timmins recently confirmed this on Twitch streamer Repullze's stream. Timmins responded to a question regarding sniper rifle headshots killing players in one hit and noted that the sniper rifle meta is due to change in the season 3 update of the game.

Some of the other changes that players have requested include the Caldera Clash game mode in Call of Duty: Warzone becoming a permanent fixture in the game. The game mode is effectively a 50v50 team deathmatch and is won by the team that racks up the most kills. Caldera Clash is, unfortunately, a limited-time event, which meant that players that enjoyed the mode will soon no longer be able to play it.

Call of Duty: Warzone fans are also asking for the iconic Verdansk map to make a return. The Verdansk map was many Warzone fans' first experience with the game, which is likely why they want to see it make a return. Players have also requested that the map feature many of the changes that have come with Caldera.

The game's season 3 update would also benefit from one other balancing change. Some Call of Duty: Warzone players have noticed that the restock perk has been buffed, which is allowing players to spam snapshot grenades. This is an issue as snapshot grenades allow players to see through walls and if they are spammed can give a player a serious edge over their competition.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
