Avionord, an Italian private air transport company with specialties in the medical field, is looking to Manta Aircraft to develop a hybrid eVTOL aircraft for medical air transport services.
The agreement will see Manta develop up to 15 hybrid-electric VTOLs reconfigured for Avionord to use for medical services. Avionord is also investing in Manta and expects to see deliveries start in 2026.
Eugenio Cremascoli, CEO of Avionord, said he believes that if Manta’s hybrid eVTOL aircraft meets its performance targets, it will offer a long enough range to quickly transport medical equipment and human organs for transplant from one hospital to another.
Lucas Marchesini, Manta Aircraft’s CEO and co-founder, previously told eVTOL.com that the ANN2 aircraft is targeting a range of 600 kilometers (373 miles), and cruising speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).
Manta is developing a range of hybrid-electric VTOL and STOL aircraft for regional air mobility. The company said it plans to begin the certification work for its two-seat ANN2 aircraft in 2023.
